ISM-Pittsburgh, Inc.
An ISM Chapter connecting and empowering supply chain professionals to advance individual, and community success.
Pittsburgh's Leading Supply Chain Management Organization
Welcome to ISM—Pittsburgh! With approximately 550 members in the chapter, we remain true to our mission to serve "the education, certification, communication and networking needs of supply management professionals in the Greater Pittsburgh area. We will do this to enhance the supply management profession, its image and ethical standards to maximize membership value".
We are excited to offer multiple professional development and networking events, awarding CEH's and offering topics on Economic Transformation in the Region, Fundamentals of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), The critical Role of Manufacturing in the region, Excel as a Fundamental Procurement Tool and site visits at breweries, the Carrie Furnaces, Ebara Elliott Company, and much more. These various events are offered hybrid, virtually and in-person.
The 2026 -2027 program year kicked off on August 19 with a tour of The Pittsburgh Brewing Company -- the perfect way to enjoy a summer evening and earn professional development hours, and network with your peers! We continued the site visits with a trip to The Carrie Furnaces which were built in 1884 and operated by U.S. Steel until 1982. This was an amazing history lesson on manufacturing in its infancy in the Pittsburgh region!
On October 6, we held a webinar at noon on "Beyond Steel: Pittsburgh and the Economics of Transformation" with Mr. Christopher Briem. Christopher is the Regional Economist with the program in Urban and Regiional Analyssis at the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Social and Urban Research. Four copies of Mr. Briem's book were given away, just for joining the webinar! Congrats to those winners as this was the perfect webinar following the Carrie Furnaces' tour.
On October 16, we offered a 5-hour seminar on "The Fundmentals of Materials Requirements Planning" with Mr. John Russo, Director, Center of Supply Chain Excellence, Duquesne University. This event was held on Duquesne University's Campus. On October 20, we headed East to The Elliott Company where we toured this global company and learned about their history and their work in the energy sector.
The countdown is on! We are just a few days away from our November 6, ISM-Pittsburgh Women Who Lead Conference on Duquesne University's Campus. It will be a day filled with exceptional presenters. This event is curated for women, but open to all. It is a day filled with education, networking, opportunities, and learning and we would love to see you all there!
On November 17 at noon, Ms. Daniela Osio, President and CEO, Dalinea, will lead an informative and engaging webinar on Using AI as Leverage in Supply Chain. Do not miss Daniela and her energy and expertise. One CEH will be awarded!
We will host a December 15 noon webinar with Mr. Kevin Mulholland, Manager, Nexus Circular. This will be our holiday virtual meeting and we look forward to a great presentation and a little fun, too! To close out the year, join us on December 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Hall for a jointly sponsored PPN Event. This is a networking event and we look forward to seeing you there!
We are so pleased to have offered a number of events in different formats and at different venues. We look forward to delivering a complete, educational 2026-2027 program year filled with events that are beneficial to supply chain professionals, both personally and professionally.
